Southpark Seafood: Foodie Friday

Last February, on a trip to Portland, Oregon, I had a meal at Southpark Seafood. I ordered the Northwest Cioppino. This dish included mussels, clams, shrimp, cod, tomato-fennel broth, bonito, and grilled ciabatta. It can be a challenge to cook seafood well, but they did a good job. The broth tasted predominantly of tomatoes. I think I prefer my cioppino recipe. The broth includes seven spices, red wine, and clam juice.

My dining companion ordered the King Salmon. This dish included salmon with corona beans, pancetta, herbed crostini, and frisee. The salmon was well-cooked and flavorful. The herbed crostini was less appetizing. Who thought it was a good idea to smear a moss green concoction onto a piece of bread? I had a Pepto Bismol pink smear served alongside another dish I ordered on this trip. Yuk!

We had Garlic Bread with our meal. It was one of the best bread accompaniments I’ve ever had. The flavorful bread had a light texture. Delicious!

This downtown restaurant has a unique feature on the outside of the building.

A salmon crashes through the corner of the building. It was very creative.
