Captured sunshine: Macro Monday

These colorful lichens at Lake Abert look like bits of captured sunshine.

  1. At first I thought that was a shot looking up through autumn leaves. That is great. I have never seen lichen that color! My husband’s family is originally from Oregon. His great grandfather is the Elliot who started forestry and who the Elliot State Forest is named after. I actually have a book his mom wrote about Francis Elliot saving a bear after a fire and raising it at home. Francis Elliot was David’s mother’s grandfather! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliott_State_Forest

    • Thanks! The color of the lichen was amazing. I’ll have to look up your husband’s family. I’ve heard of the forest named after them.
