Balloons before lift off – Rispetto poem: LAPC

Colorful resting balloons, drowsy at dawn,
Breathe in heated air, unfold, stretch, and inflate
Burners roar, envelopes fill, tense crews hang on
Baskets shift on the ground, sandbags balance weight
Pilots check the weather, instruments, and tanks
Passengers clamber aboard, voicing their thanks
Flames dance over burners, heat enters the skirt
Lift greater than weight, balloons float o’er desert

Photographs taken at Balloons Over Bend event July 2025. Here’s a short video from a previous post.

    • Thank you, Tina! Yes, I was happy to see what the challenge was after spending a lot of time editing those recent photos.

  1. Balloons are such great things to photograph. I went up in one once and took so many photos then my hard disk died and I lost them all. It is so good to see yours Siobhan.

    • Yes, they are fun to photograph, Leanne. So sorry you lost all those pictures! I’m glad my photos brought back some good memories.

  2. We love ballooning. Last year, we had a ride with Siri and Selma for three hours. We loved it. We had rides before, but never that long.
    Happy weekend
