When I looked at the pictures I’d taken at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, I thought several images were like abstracts adrift.
The northern sea otters rolled themselves up into buoyant balls.
Moon jellies fell like brilliant blue windblown blossoms.
Yellow tangs scattered like sparkling gems in an undersea canyon.
A reflection from behind gave a spotted ratfish a magical fluttering tailfin.
Pairs of fish swam together towards brighter futures.
I enjoy visiting aquariums, but this was the first time I saw so many abstracts adrift. Perhaps they have always been there, waiting to be noticed.
