We used to drive through Madras on our way to and from Montana. I have always been curious about how a small town in Oregon would come to share its name with a city in India.
According to the Wikipedia page, it's unclear why the name was adopted. It's still a small town, but it's slowly growing and including more artwork. I was there on a garden tour. :D
