Today I’m sharing a pen and ink drawing I did of a mallard duck in flight. These ducks live in many parts of the world and most of us are familiar with their quack, quack calls.
This hen was very photogenic. She stood a few feet away from me one warm summer day, posing in different positions.
On a cold winter day, these ducks tucked their heads in, trying to keep warm. A hen and a drake kept an eye on me while I watched from the shore.
When migrating, mallards fly 50 miles per hour, on average. If the winds are just right, they can travel up to 800 miles in an eight hour time period. Impressive!
