  • Here on Kiawah we have an Avocet Lane but I'd never seen the bird until your post. What a beautiful creature. Loved your choices this week especially the two octopi and the rattles.

    • Thanks, Tina! Avocets are such elegant birds. Glad you liked the octopi and rattles. I just took the rattle picture at the museum a couple of days ago. It's part of an exhibit about Sasquatch.

  • Beautifully expressed and some lovely pairs! My favourites are the waterlilies and the octopus mural :)

    • Thanks, Sarah! The octopus mural was one my favorite murals I've ever seen. Waterlilies are such beautiful plants, aren't they?

  • I love the two art pieces, both with horns in them. The first looked so real I thought you had somehow been there and managed to catch them in the middle of the fight. Although I suppose if it was live it would have been loud and terrifying, and this was a silent battle. On the same theme I have seen mummers clashing horns in the winter solstice ritual and I felt taken back to another more primeval time. I suspect those horn rattles would evoke a similar eerie feeling.

    • Thanks so much! Yes, the sculpture is very realistic looking. The antler rattles were my favorite piece in the exhibit at the High Desert Museum.

  • This is a wonderful post, Siobhan. I really liked your examples. The photos are beautiful.

  • Beautiful pairings, Siobhan. I wouldn't have guessed at first glance that those bulls are frozen in pose. :-)

  • Beautiful pairs! I love the Avocet one, they look like they could be dancing, so perfectly aligned. The mural is my favourite, the colours and style are just wonderful.

    • Thanks, Sofia! I love avocets. The mural picture was popular on this post. It's a beautiful work of art. :)
