Rocks I remember: LAPC & FOWC

The rocks I remember may rest on the slopes of extinct volcanoes

And show cryptic carved messages created years ago

  • Wow, Siobhan! Such great examples. It's interesting how people have painted on rocks for centuries. Today stories are told on computers, and with art on the walls of buildings.

I love that owl. I always enjoy creative rock painting.

  • I loved all of this! So unique in your grasp of the challenge. Glass Butte looks fascinating. You find the coolest places to explore Siobhan, and I love the way you describe them/your impressions. Hidden crystals, textures, painted in the recent past, and leopard spots! And even though the petroglyphs have a physical message, your entire post talks of messages to look for. Well done,

    • Thanks from a fellow rock lover. When I saw your prompt, I thought, "Yippee!" Then when I started looking for photos related to rocks, I thought, "Uh oh." I have TONS of rock pictures, as I'm sure you do too. Thanks for the great prompt, Donna!

  • I knew you would have an amazing post this week Siobhan, and you did not disappoint! I loved your choices and I have no doubt you had way too many to choose from 😊. I think the petroglyphs are my favorite but they are all wonderful, as I expected!

    • Thank you, Tina! Yes, I have a lot of pictures of rocks because we seek them out on excursions, near and far. 😁

  • I liked your approach to the challenge very much, Siobhan. Your text was perfect, too. Beautiful gallery.

  • Wonderful variety here Siobhan! I love the leopard-skin obsidian (I've never seen anything like that) and the thundereggs, while I'm always completely fascinated by petroglyphs, thinking about the people who created them so long ago :)

    • Thanks, Sarah! I'm lucky to live where so many treasures, created by nature or people of the past, are close by.

    • Thanks, John! Yes, I love petroglyphs too. I have LOTS of obsidian I've collected, inside my house and out. :D

  • I love your close-up look at rocks. That leopard rock is beautiful and I wish I'd thought of petroglyphs. Greatly enjoyed this.
