In celebration of St Patrick’s Day, I’m sharing Guinness beer advertisements I saw at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. We were there in March of 2020.
The first one is a giant tortoise carrying a beer. It looks pretty happy!
The second one shows a display cabinet full of toucans and other items. The toucan was a favorite, used in many of their ads.
The kangaroo shown below has a handy pouch to carry beers. A zookeeper in uniform stands beside the kangaroo with a giant smile on his face and a beer in his hand.
The next one is the infamous fish on a bicycle.
Here’s the quote right below it. A lot of women might agree with this sentiment. It was written by Australian writer, social activist, and filmmaker Patricia Irene Dunn.
Here’s a short video of this one in action. You can see why its one of people’s favorite Guinness advertisements.
The next shows a man charging forward with a glass in one hand and a bottle in the other.
The last one shows an ostrich with an extra long neck. Its head is buried deeply in the sand. The ostrich, toucan, and other ads shown here were the creation of John Gilroy. He created these ads for Guinness in the 1930s through 1960s and they stand the test of time.
After touring the seven floors of the Guinness Storehouse, we needed a break. We visited the Gravity Bar on the top floor and took in the 360-degree views of Dublin.

Yeah, it was a fun place to visit!
Very cool!
Yeah, it was entertaining!
Sláinte Siobhan! There's an old pub near where we leave that still has a faded toucan Guinness advert on the side :D
Thanks, Sarah! The toucan was one of my favorite advertisements.
