Chomp Chomp in Bend: Dining Out

We try to support local businesses by dining out at least once week. We recently visited Chomp Chomp in downtown Bend, Oregon.

Their website describes what they serve as follows:

Gently expand your culinary horizons while enjoying our broad curation of Japanese, local and global whiskies, seasonal cocktails, and draft beer

The first dish I’m showing is Kara’agé. Tasty bits of fried dark chicken meat rest on a bed of rice with cucumber slices, pickled ginger, a slice of lemon, and house-made dipping sauce.

The next dish features Crispy Brussels Sprouts tossed in lemon sesame sauce and garnished with pickled carrots and crispy wonton strips. We added bacon.

The Crab Rangoons were one of my favorites. The deep-fried wontons, stuffed with crab meat, green onions, garlic, red chili flakes, and cream cheese, were delicious.

The next dish we had was Pork Belly Bao Buns. The taco-style buns are filled with slow-roasted pork belly, sesame seeds, green onion, cilantro, and kimchi.

All of these dishes were part of the Happy Hour menu at Chomp Chomp. We’ve been here twice and only had dishes from this menu and were impressed with what we ordered.

To top off our meal, we had a One Night in Bangkok drink, a house-made spicy vodka, with coconut, and lime, and a Spiced Old Fashion, a blend of bourbon, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves garnished with orange peel and a cherry. I especially liked the flavor of the Spiced Old Fashion. 😀
