Today I’m featuring quotes related to snow next to snowy pictures taken in my yard. Winter has finally arrived here in Bend, Oregon.
A snow day literally and figuratively falls from the sky, unbidden, and seems like a thing of wonder.
Susan Orlean
Advice is like snow – the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
The more I see of deer, the more I admire them as mountaineers. They make their way into the heart of the roughest solitudes with smooth reserve of strength, through dense belts of brush and forest encumbered with fallen trees and boulder piles, across canons, roaring streams, and snow-fields, ever showing forth beauty and courage.
John Muir
The pure air and dazzling snow belong to things beyond the reach of all personal feeling, almost beyond the reach of life. Yet such things are a part of our life, neither the least noble nor the most terrible.
Frederick Soddy
Hope you are enjoying the magic of snow if it’s falling where you live. Stay warm!

Winter wonderland
Yes, it is!
Yes...a thing of wonder. I am always amazed at how quiet snow sounds. And your pictures reflect it. Even though deer can be commonplace, I could sit at your vantage point for hours (with hot chocolate) and watch them.
Yes, I always like how snow muffles sounds. My resident deer are always entertaining!
Gorgeous! I usually think of Bend as dry and hot, but I love this B-side! Ice can be terrifying and beautiful at the same time and not everything can make that claim. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Bonnie Rae. We have 4 distinct seasons here in Bend. Snow came late this year. We have had freezing rain lately and that makes thing challenging. Pretty, but treacherous. Much warmer temps this week. Yay!
Beautiful, words and pictures together. And silence in all of them - snow makes everything more clean and more quiet. We have had a lucky, snowy winter so far. Your sun is shining too - that is unusual here during winter.
Thanks, Ann-Christine! Snowfall came later than expected here. Yes, snow does make things look pristine. The sun peeks through occasionally and the snow stands out against blue skies. Enjoy your winter there! ❄️
BEAUTIFUL photos and quotes. Very well done.
Thank you, John. Snow makes everything prettier. 🙂
Siobhan, no snow here, but I was transported through your beautiful photos and quotes. Thanks for this great gallery.
Thanks, Egidio! The snow is beautiful for taking pictures.
This is a great response to this challenge Siobhan. I love how you linked the quotes to the pictures. Love it!
Thanks, Anne! That was a fun challenge. 😁
Beautiful images, very fitting for these quotes :) I especially love the photo of the tall snow-covered tree!
Thanks, Sarah! Yes, I liked the single tree as well. :)
Beautiful photos for these quotes! Love the snow on trees especially. Thanks for sharing these quotes!
Thanks, Amy! Snowy trees are always so pretty.
