I took this picture of Emerald Pool along the Black Sand Basin Trail in Yellowstone National Park. Emerald Pool is one of my favorite hot springs in the park. The bright colors in and around the pool stand out against a backdrop of forests and cliffs.
The water temperature of this pool averages 136Β° F (58Β° C). The pool used to be more green in color, but drops in temperature have caused the color to darken.

It's an amazing sight! I think I read that people used to throw coins into it which also affected the colour? Or did I dream that?!!
Yes, it is amazing, Sarah! All kinds of things get tossed into the hot springs there, unfortunately. You'll often see park personnel with a long grabber tool fishing stuff out.
Wow, fantastic shot π I love all the different colours π Thanks for joining in π
Thank you, Jez! π
