I saw this loop-de-loop lodgepole pine growing alongside Firehole Lake Drive in Yellowstone National Park. Everyone drove right past it but I had to stop and take its picture. I wondered what stopped it from going straight up. It figured out how to grow around obstacles and keep going in the right direction. A lesson for us all.

Trees are amazing.
Yes, they are!
Fascinating!
š Yes, it was!
Its wonderful that you spotted this tree! Indeed it has figured out that obstacles have to be overcome!! I have seen a variety of Palm that had a similar curved trunk.. sadly it was cut down as part of road works.
Thanks! That's cool you saw a palm tree with a loop. Sorry it was cut down.
That's a good one, Ken. Glad you got a shot. Are you on a trip to US, Ken?
Hi Parul. This was a photo I took in Yellowstone. Thanks from Siobhan in Oregon.
Oh Iām so sorry, Siobhan. I mistook you for being Ken who joins from UK.
