Aspen trees in the fall are beautiful from far away and up close. I’m featuring autumn portraits of aspens in central and eastern Oregon.
A far away aspen stand glowing in a blaze of color on Hart Mountain.
Moving in closer to… an aspen-lined meadow at Aspen Day Use Area near Dillon Falls.
Taking a step closer to… a golden-leaved aspen in Pine Nursery Park in Bend.
Edging in closer to… the many-eyed bark of aspen trees in the Old Mill District of Bend.
Focusing up close on… frosty aspen leaves near Sunriver Nature Center.
Lens Artists Photo Challenge – Subjects that begin with the letter ‘A’
Ohh, I love this! Focusing on one special letter A for aspens and zooming in closer and closer on the trees. Lovely!
Thank you, Patti! Aspens are one of my favorite trees.
I love aspens and always enjoy coming across a group of them when riding in Wyoming, especially if there’s a bit of wind so that I can appreciate the sound of the leaves. Such a lovely sound. I particularly like your last, frosty shot. 🙂
janet
Thanks! Yes Janet, that distinctive sound is one of the things that makes them special. 🙂
I love that shot of the water behind the trees!
Thanks! It’s one of my favorite spots.
Aspens are among my favorite trees Siobhan – I love seeing them when I visit my brother in Colorado as we do not have them here in the south. perhaps that’s why I find them so special. Beyond their exceptional beauty of course!
Thanks! My grandmother lived in Colorado and asked to have her ashes sprinkled over the aspens she loved. 🙂
Oh that is truly sweet Siobhan, a lovely idea.
Very amazing captures 🙂
Thank you! They’re a special kind of tree to me.
Beautiful captures of this special tree, Siobhan. Love the last image especially. The last time I saw Aspens in Rocky Mountains in fall was about three years ago… I miss it.
Thanks, Amy! The last picture is one of my favorites.
Ahh. Aspens. Well done. I should have thought of that. I have a LOT of aspen tree photos. If it wasn’t usurped by the Blue Spruce, I think it would be our Colorado state tree.
Thanks! Aspen pictures are always nice. Yes, it was hard to come up with ‘a’ words. I also thought of using antlers or antiques.
Lovely idea, Siobhan – and so gloriously carried out! Aspen is one of my favorite trees. Their intense glow and their moving leaves, enchanting.
Yes, “enchanting” is a perfect way to describe aspen, Ann-Christine! 🙂
Beautiful photos and post. I love the bend and Sunriver area.
Thanks! Yes, there’s lot of nice scenery everywhere you look around here.
Aspens are one of my favorite trees, too, as I’m originally a Colorado girl. It was a dream come true for me to build my house on a ridge in the middle of an aspen grove, where they are my every day companions. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome! They are beautiful and interesting from a biological standpoint. Clones!
Lovely response to this challenge. I especially love the frost photo!
Thanks so much, Anne!

What a great idea to begin with one word and then show variations of it! Brilliant. And wonderful photography!
Thanks! I chose a willing participant. 😁
