Really interesting use of infrared. You're right. It does highlight the prickly symmetry. Did you use a special infrared camera?

Infrared works really well creating great contrast, delineation and highlights.
Yes, it does. I used it occasionally years ago with a traditional camera. You had to be very careful developing it in the darkroom so the film didn't get exposed to light. Much easier now!
