The River Ranch Barn at Summer Lake Wildlife Area in eastern Oregon is weathered to perfection. Here are a few pictures of its exterior from a distance and close up. Winter Ridge rises majestically behind the barn.
The shakes of its roof line up in irregular and interesting patterns.
Here are a couple pictures of an outbuilding next to the barn. The weathered barn wood has a variety of warm tones and a distinct personality all its own.
This pale knotty eye watches the wildlife visiting this oasis in the desert with a look of approval.

You are so right - "weathered to perfection". I can feel the softness of its warm brown tones, and the roof is a gem. Perfect!
Through your lens the weathered barn wood has personality all its own.
Beautiful photos!
Thanks! 😃
Another place in Oregonyet to to explore....
Is there a hot spring pool in this barn? I stayed at Summer Lake years ago and soaked in a hot spring pool contained in an old barn like this one. I wondered if it might be the same one.
Summer Lake Hot Springs is close by, in another barn. There's a rustic resort there with a hot spring heated pool.
A wonderful subject SB, perfect for the challenge
Thank you, Tina.
Great shots. I love texture.
